WOLFSBANE
Short Film Poster Design
OBJECTIVE
Wolfsbane is a short film about a soldier's return from war to his family in the American south, and the unfolding events of an evil that he brought back with him, as a werewolf. To accompany the release and build up of the film, these poster designs create the striking visual language of the movie's branding.
The presented need was met with both a Teaser Poster and the Official Poster.
RESEARCH
With these posters, most inspiration was drawn from classic, 1960s hand painted horror movie posters. Their use of striking colors and visuals would make for an impactful identity to pair with Wolfsbane, as a spin on the original wolf man tale.
FINAL I
For the teaser poster, the 60s style was used as a much looser source of inspiration, taking it and applying a more minimalist approach, still relying on bold colors and type to encapsulate the tone of the film.
FINAL II
The final theatrical poster built upon the 60s horror inspiration hinted in the teaser and pushes it to the fullest extent with several type systems and bold, campy hand painted work that teases an intense interaction from the film. These posters establish the identity of the film while paying homage to the extensive bodies of work that inspired it.
